TELLING YOUR STORY THROUGH ART
Infuse your curriculum with captivating workshops and residencies by award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Adjoa Burrowes. Burrowes illuminates the underlying artistic processes of multi-media collage, paper decorating, bookmaking and creative writing.
Family Ties: Celebrate family and community in this workshop where students create collage portraits and house them in unique hand made book forms. Finished books will be exhibited at the school site. (grades 1 – 3)
The Me You Don’t Know: Explore self identity and awareness as middle school students link personal history, geography and social studies while creating collages using recyclables and writing personal narratives. A week-long residency culminates with a video of the finished narratives and art. (grades 6 – 8)
Seasons of Hope and Change: Students explore the natural world and current events in this exciting bookmaking, and creative writing workshop. A week-long residency will culminate in the publishing of narratives and art in a spiral bound book. (grades 4 – 6)
